For centuries the genres of popular and classical music have heavily influenced each other.  Bernstein and Gershwin are examples from the 20th century, but composers as old as Bach and Mozart, as romantic as Chopin and Liszt, as experimental as Stravinsky and Cage, and as current as Akiho and Van Hassel, have drawn inspiration from popular music.  And bands like Radiohead and The Beatles have taken ideas from their classical contemporaries and weaved those ideas seamlessly into their music.  Join Keith Kirchoff, Concord Conservatory Faculty & pianist, to explore this musical intersection where the lines between genres are blurred and the question “Is this classical or popular music?” will be rendered irrelevant.  This offering will take place at Harvey Wheeler Community Center on most Mondays: Sept. 17 & 24; Oct. 1, 15, 22 & 29; Nov. 5, 19 & 26; Dec. 3 & 10; 1:00pm – 2:30pm.  Everyone is welcome and no musical background in necessary.  You may join the class at anytime, but the full cost is required.  Please call the Council on Aging to attend and even if you register at the Conservatory as well.
