Concord Museum, 5th Annual Sally Lanagan Lecture

November 8, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

- Free, but reservations required

Hear Dr. Wanda Corn, nationally renowned art historian and scholar of late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century American art and photography, discuss Georgia O’Keeffe: Art, Image, Style, the first exhibition to explore the art, image, and personal style of one of America’s most iconic artists.

Dr. Corn is the Robert and Ruth Halperin Professor Emerita in Art History at Stanford University. At Stanford, Dr. Corn held the university’s first permanent appointment in the history of American art and served as chair of the Department of Art and Art History and Acting Director of the Stanford Museum. Dr. Corn is now active as a visiting curator and scholar. She has produced numerous books and exhibitions, including The Art of Andrew Wyeth (1973), Grant Wood: The Regionalist Vision (1983), and Seeing Gertrude Stein, Five Stories (2011-12). She is the guest curator of the upcoming exhibition at the Peabody Essex Museum, Georgia O’Keeffe: Art, Image, Style.

The Lanagan Lecture is a major annual lecture named for Sally Lanagan, a beloved volunteer who was deeply involved with the Museum and had a passion for American art, the decorative arts, and historic preservation. To honor Sally and her memory each year, The Sally Lanagan Fund was established in 2012 by her family, as a tribute to Sally’s years of dedicated service to the Concord Museum. Through this endowed lectureship, the Museum offers each year a presentation by a prominent scholar on a topic that is aligned with her interests.

Free, but reservations are required. Member registration is now open.
