Planting & Growing Culinary Herbs

Are you interested in growing an herb garden this spring to fuel all your culinary adventures but aren’t sure where to begin? Here’s your opportunity to sign up for a one-hour workshop to get started. This workshop offers an introduction, tips and growing information for herbs like mint, lavender, basil, thyme, sage, and parsley. We’ll also cover how to use these lovely herbs in the kitchen. From tea and dips to baked goods, these ideas are sure to inspire some fabulous recipes this year. Cooking with homegrown herbs can be a very rewarding process and we’re excited to see where it takes you!

Memory Café – Vernal Pools Exploration

Share your knowledge & learn from naturalist experts during hands-on explorations and activities with plants, natural materials and animals at The Nature Connection’s Memory Café for people living with dementia. Facilitated by Carol Hani, LICSW and nature enthusiast.

This Memory Cafe is a faciliated discussion group for people living with dementia and their care partners. We will meet on the first Friday of each month (excluding July 5th due to holiday) and explore a different nature topic. In May, we will discuss and engage in a sensory exploration of Vernal Pools with Amphibians (frogs, toads, and salamanders) and Snails.

May Nature Journal Night

Join us on the second Wednesday of every month for Nature Journal Night!

Keeping a seasonal nature journal offers a way to practice your nature-noticing skills and allow the earth to remind you of the resiliency of life.

Our goal is to help you experience the sense of wellbeing that can come through deepening your relationship with nature by providing the space and structure to engage with the natural world around you. This hour and a half workshop will include time to experience nature, direction on a journaling technique, and opportunities to practice your new writing skills. We’ll take advantage of our proximity to the rail trail and go outside to take in the sights, smells, and sounds of the trees and water. If there is bad weather, we’ll stay inside and connect with The Nature Connection’s plants and animals instead.

Materials Needed – We highly recommend bringing your own journal (paper & pens/pencils can be provided if necessary).
